Are You Satisfied With Your Saltwater Aquarium Filter
I was running a 90 gallon aquarium for the last 2 years with lets say a lesser brand of protein skimmer. I’ve always wanted to upgrade my protein skimmer, but I didn’t have the money. The original skimmer I bought with the tank had a really limited design and genuinely didn’t do really much. At the time, I thought it was pulling lots of waste out in the tank until I upgraded for the new skimmer.
I saw that Octopus Protein Skimmers were getting good reviews on the public forums and seemed to be a favorite amongst hobbyists, so I decided to give on a try. I ordered it from an on the internet saltwater aquarium specialty retailer and it came with within the next week. It was packed well in a cardboard box with styrofoam. After rinsing the parts off in fresh water I started to set it up. The only downside for the skimmers are the instructions aren’t overly clear, but I was able to figure it about in less than 15 minutes. A couple nice features are the zero clearance collection cup and also the oversized skimmer body compared to far more conventional skimmers. The Octopus Protein Skimmer also uses a needle wheel pump made Octopus. Some in the upgraded skimmers use a Sicci pump, but these are found about the MSX or Extreme skimmers.
I’ve now had my protein skimmer running for about 6 months and am really pleased. It has had continuous performance and is incredibly uncomplicated to adjust. It’s not like the other skimmers that quit pulling when the neck becomes slightly dirty or the water level in your aquarium’s sump drops an inch. I’m also pleased because since adding the skimmer, my water is cleaner and much less algae grows which means much less maintenance. This also signifies I have a lot more time to sit and enjoy the saltwater aquarium. So should you are searching for a new aquarium filter, be sure to look at the Octopus line, you won’t be disappointed.
